The Everything Man + Wonderland Garage
I'm happy to share these two songs with you all; they seem like partners somehow. Mostly though, finishing writing and then recording these start to finish tonight was the whole point. They're not perfect, I didn't obsess about them, and I didn't add 100 instruments. It's been a while since I've put anything out, and this is my attempt to give the whole thing much less intensity and weight. Maybe it's just nice to write and record something, and share it in all its imperfect, personal, gritty, homey glory. I needed an album cover, so I took a self-timer photo outside my house, in the clothes I've worn all night recording stuff. "The Everything Man" is a song I've been kicking around for a couple years; recently I found it feels close to my heart but needed lyrics that reflected more of where I'm at now; so that's what you're hearing here. "Wonderland Garage" is a title and structure I've had around for a while, and I finally wrote the lyrics tonight. In some ways this song is my attempt at Tom T. Hall's "That's How I Got to Memphis," but instead, that's how I got to Logan Airport: I parked at Wonderland Garage. There's a separate song just called "Wonderland" I'll probably share soon too. Anyway, I hope you enjoy these. Thanks for listening. Earlier today, I had no idea this would be happening tonight, and I'm glad it did. I hope you are too.
